Who We Are
About Fr. Falcon Freebird Foundation, LLC

The Fr. Falcon Freebird Foundation was formed in March of 2018 by Gregory S. Gorak, a lifelong Milwaukee resident and University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee, School of Social Welfare graduate.

Our Mission is to assist disadvantaged individuals and their families obtain safe quality housing that meets their needs and fits their budgets.

We have acquired and renovated a former convent, a two-bedroom duplex, and a 3-bedroom single family home on South 25th St.

It is our long-term goal  for the former convent (Freebird House) to offer transitional living housing for men releasing from prison.

It is our belief that every person deserves to be treated with honesty, respect and dignity.

We offer limited direct housing rental opportunities as well as property management services.

We are committed to investing our expertise and resources in order to further achieve our cause.

Our Philosophy

“We are connected, each to each.
We are not solitary sparks in an endless void, but individual threads in a wondrously complex fabric.”

Frank Ziedler, Former Milwaukee Mayor

Freebird House History

Blocks from the Mitchell Park Domes, built in 1918 as a Catholic Convent, this spacious 10-bedroom home is rich in history and character. Then, from 1996-2016, it housed the Day-Star Women's Shelter.
The Falcon Freebird Foundation acquired it in 2018 with the long-term goal of providing transitional living for men returning to society from incarceration.
We spent 3 years restoring the neglected building and grounds. Decades of multiple types and layers of flooring were removed and the natural birds eye maple flooring was sanded and re-finished to the original look. Each room has been restored and furnished. The beautiful red oak trim has been refinished as well.
Greg's family and friends have shared the home's many rooms for years now. It is a sanctuary that we are pleased to be able to provide.
